Strategy - Mages are often successful against melee pkers due to the fact that most magic spells hit harder against plate armor. Another advantage mages have over melee pkers is that they can attack from a distance. Set the spell as your default and attack, and try to keep a distance from your opponent, whether melee or ranger. Dont waste runes on a kill that isnt worth the runes you will use.
What to wear/bring Be sure to bring a wizards robe with a hat, magic ammy, and a staff (Air or Fire). Include plenty of food, and teleport runes are optional. If you choose, you can also bring platemail legs and a shield.
Spells Fire bolt is common for low level mages, and fire blast for those more advanced. Bind runes and teleport runes are optional.
Strategy Like the mage, the ranger is most effective from a distance. Use this well to help defeat your enemies. Rangers are especially effective against mages due to the fact that wizards robes are poor defense against ranged attacks. Rangers are also able to shoot faster than mages, which is an added bonus for obvious reasons.
What to wear/bring Full green dragonhide is advisable, but not necessary. A shortbow is preferred by most users because if its rapid firepower, but others prefer a longbow because it maximizes attacking distance. Bring one kind of arrow, adamant arrows are advisable. As with any kind of pker, stock your inventory full of food (lobsters and swordfish are advised).
Description This type of pker is preferred by most users because it costs the least amount of money to maintain. You wont have to spend money or time with arrows and runes, just get in there and fight!
Strategy There are many different ways to make a melee pure, your job is to find the type that suits you best. Many melee pkers do their best work in multi-combat zones or by hitting the opponent from behind as they run. Free version warriors have the opportunity to inflict a lot of damage on other pkers. Prayer is also effective when used well as a melee pure/pker. Scimitars are often the weapon of preference because of their ability to strike fast and hard.
What to wear/bring You have several options at this point. You can use any combination of clothes and armor, all of personal preference. Full rune can be cumbersome; many warriors bring robes or dragonhide. Monks robes slow the drain rate of your prayer, and dragonhide armor defends well against mages and rangers. Be sure to wear an amulet and bring a strength potion and plenty of food.
Obviously, it is very important to have a high hitpoints level in the wild. Good pures have their hitpoints much higher than their combat. Here are some tips to getting the highest hitpoint level possible on your pker:
Always use the genie lamp toward hitpoints experience.
NOTE: Only use Attack Spells instead of alchemy ect, if you wish your combat level to be higher. When training magic, use attack spells instead of alchemy, teleports, and confuse/weakens.
Don't complete quests that award experience points toward specific combat skills. Do NOT complete Imp Catcher, Demon Slayer, Witch's Potion, or Vampire Slayer on a pure account. It is ok to complete Restless Ghost for easy prayer exp.
Food:
What to bring:
HP 10-40: Trout, Salmon, Tuna
HP 41+: Lobsters, Swordfish
Do not EVER bring cake into the Wilderness.
Important: Time your eating! This takes practice. Timing your eating can mean the difference between life and death in a close fight. In a one on one fight, try to wait until 1/3 of your hitpoints are remaining before you heal.
Pking in Teams:
Tips:
Always follow your leader with run on. That way, if he runs - so do you.
In multi-combat zones, have everyone on your team attack the same person for a quick KO.
In non-multi areas, if your team member is fighting an opponent, follow the opponent with run on.
* Never eat or pot while hitting an enemy from behind as they run!
Running Tips:
If you must:
Use a monster to stall (works well against a melee opponent in a non-multi combat zone).
To evade an enemy, try running through fungus (south of moss giants) or through a thick patch of trees.
Magic & Prayer:
Weaken/Curse/Confuse spells: Don't even bother using them in the Wilderness. They aren't very effective and are a waste of inventory space.
Teleporting: Just don't do it. No decent clan will ever accept you if you constantly run/border/tele (one vs one).
Using Prayer: There is no shame in using 'protect item', although some pkers won't use it in a one on one battle (assuming the enemy fights fairly). Strength and attack prayers are very effective for pures.
